What
is death? What is birth?
These things happen only on earth.
What is present? What is past?
What is future? What is last?
Some say body, some say soul
They do not know what is their goal.
Whom do I call ‘me’ and what is my goal?
Am I this body or am I the soul?
Isn’t this world very amazing?
People demand not one, but everything.
They want to be independent here
They forget that Krishna is there. Pravesh Khanal (XI)
I walk unsure beneath
the clouds
Of rains that shelters thunderstorms;
I walk with my eyes looking at the ground,
I see the shadow of the cloudy sky
Beneath which I walk with confused steps;
I think of the uncertainties
I have gone through in life,
Of the awkward situations
That I’ve faced at every step,
Of life, which is too short
Yet precious.
I hear the black clouds thundering
As black as the thoughts of a muffled man,
And it seemed to me that they were groaning
And the tears flowed in the form of droplets
On the trees and animals, and the land.
I walk unsure
My eyes fixed on the ground
And I see a glimpse of lightening
Through the mirror of the pools
My conscience, the good impulse
forces me to look up
I felt the divine voice from the clear sky
“Don’t be hopeless young man – everyone has his day.” Balaram Mittal (XI)
The day in existence came
‘Me’
Was the day we forgot Krishna,
The soul chose to a bodily life
Inflicted by birth, disease, and death’s strife,
Seeking bliss through independence,
Uncertain, towards dark future,
No limit of possibilities in the paradox of life,
When a question comes to the mind,
“Is it Krishna? Or senses mine? ”
The insatiable fire running wild,
Intelligence chasing the reeling mind,
Alas! Darkening ignorance covers the light.
Yet a ray remains, a ray of hope,
A punctured hole in the seal,
Through which may flow the elixir of mercy,
Directed by the ‘Golden One’!
This great wisdom has passed down the line,
Inherited from a source divine,
Enlightening us of the eternal truth,
Elevating all!
To the level of consciousness of the Absolute. Param Dayal Das (XII)
