On 25th of December BGIS had a wonderful day of celebration of
the divine disappearance day of His Divine Grace Bhakti Siddhanta
Saraswati Thakur, the spiritual master of the ISKCON founder Acharya
Srila Prabhupada.
Famously known as lion guru, Bhaktisiddhanta Thakur, unfazed preached
‘the most urgent message’ of Krishna Consciousness. And much in
the same spirit, our beloved Srila Prabhupada distributed this
message throughout the world.
In order to impress the Gurukulis with this ‘urgency of KC’ and
‘quality of our revered Acharyas’, we had a half day long celebration
program at our Gurukul common hall.
The program was attended by all the Gurukulis. The program started
with heartfelt invocation prayers by our music teacher HG Durjaya
Krishna Prabhu, followed by Vaishnava songs by some of senior
Gurukulis. We also had an amazing and well coordinated Mridanga
performance by junior Gurukulis, trained by Bablu Prabhu.
HH Prabodhananda Maharaj graced the occasion by giving a brief
talk on the life of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur. Many
students, who haven’t had much knowledge about Srila Bhaktisiddhanta,
were really inspired by the personality of Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati
Thakur.
The determination of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur, as
exhibited in Mango pastime- vow of not eating mangoes throughout
the life, and the Mayapur pastime- where for 9 continuous years
he chanted 192 rounds every day, impressed the students the most,
as evident from their recollections of the lecture.
‘At the age of mere 5, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta- when he inadvertently
ate the unoffered mangoes- took a vow not to eat mangoes rest
of his life, and he kept his vow. This DETERMINATION is simply
mind –blowing. May we also get a drop of that.’, comments HG NityaMukund
Das.
The program concluded with Puspanjali offerings, Guru puja and
Dancing kirtans. After a half day long fasting, everyone relished
the mega feast prepared especially for the occasion. Altogether
it was a blissful experience.
Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur ki Jai!!
